New Local Law affecting verges and public places

The City of Stirling council is currently proposing that their  Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law 2009 be repealed and replaced with this new Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law 2017.

This Local Law covers things like verges, footpaths, lanes, trees, vehicle crossings, nature strips, foot paths, and curbs etc..  In other words, many things that affect our day to day lives and properties, so you may want to have a look?

The Local Government Act requires all Local Laws to be reviewed every few years, but due to their new Verge Treatment Policy that was adopted in late 2016 and other policy changes, there are now numerous  inconsistencies between the documents.

The item is on the Community & Resources Committee meeting Agenda for the 6th of June 2017 (pg 78).  The meeting starts at 6PM.  It will then go to the next full council meeting for approval.
